A Touch of Autumn

Oct 4th 2021

Happy October! I am so ready for some hot apple cider, pumpkin bars and scary movies. And by "can't wait" what I really mean is I've already eaten an entire pan of pumpkin bars this last month and having been binging scary movies like crazy. :D It's still pretty warm out but ooo...I cannot wait for things to cool down so I can layer up in a cozy sweater and curl up under a blanket. This last month has been a pleasant change from the month before. I wouldn't say things are entirely going my way but things are definitely traveling upwards.

Events went much better, in more ways than one. We broke our personal best for a one day event which was absolutely amazing. I got to see what a supportive small business community looks like and I got to chat with some small business owners around my age who have physical locations (aka not working out of their home like me). They were super nice and fun to hang out with. I even got some tips for hopefully getting my own physical location. :) This last month was a whirlwind of positivity, I thought I dreamt some of it because things were so well. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it continues.

My Puns of Fun project on Kickstarter has almost come to an end. I launched the project last month on the 12th and it has been doing pretty good. Through the support of some really awesome people we have been able to bring in enough funds to make the first 3 hard enamel pins in the series as well as an art print, thank you card, die cut sticker and a holographic sticker. My hope is that by the time the campaign ends we will have brought in enough to fund the next stretch goal and the fourth pin (Goat Bless you) as well. My fingers are crossed and I'm praying to the universe we can do it. The pins that will be produced so far are: Holy Guacamole, It's Garbage Can Not Garbage Cannot and Mac n' Bees.

Puns of Fun Enamel Pins

I made 2 new greeting cards last month, fully completing the fox series for a total of 7 cards. Not going to lie, a part of me wishes I made these as larger illustrations but...I've still got plenty of ideas so it's okay. They are absolutely gorgeous no matter which one I look at. Maybe I'll try something with raccoons next? Or maybe I'll create more cat themed cards.

I also created a new dapper dressed animal. I was a bit nervous about drawing this one since I almost always stick with animals that have fur but he turned out pretty damn nice.

The Three Billy Goats Gruff is still a work in progress. All of the pen work is done so I started doing all of the coloring for the book and it is looking so good. I've only got the first 4 pages done and I have about 7 more to do but I can't wait to see how the entire thing looks. Not rooting for the villain or anything but damn, I love how the troll looks.

This month I plan to create more dapper dressed animals, I want to have a total of 10 for the series I'm working on. Of course I'll also continue coloring the pages for the Three Billy Goats Gruff. Production of the enamel pins, stickers and other fun stuff from the Puns of Fun project will begin this month after the campaign ends on the 12th and surveys have been sent out. I have a half finished nature illustration that I'd love to finish and I'm taking part in Inktober this month as well. I'll only being following one, maybe two prompts a week but I'm super excited to take part in it. As usual I've got so many projects, some big, some small that I would love to work on but I have no idea what one's I'll actually have the time for. We'll just have to see how the month goes. Wish me luck! :D
