Pushing through the Storm

Jul 1st 2020

I hope everyone had a lovely June.

While things are opening back up across the country and it's getting warmer out the number of positive covid-19 cases keeps rising. However, when I look outside or walk around the neighborhood it seems everyone has forgotten about the pandemic going on. Coronavirus is still an issue and we still need to take precautions. So please, stay home as much as possible, wear a mask when out in public, wash your hands and try to maintain a 6ft distance.

This last month I have not been able to create much art due to feeling under the weather all month. It really sucks but, I'm hanging in there. I got tested for covid-19 and came back negative which was a relief. The doctor has put me through a string of tests to figure out what's going on and until then I've just been taking it a bit easy. Just because I have been taking it easy doesn't mean I haven't done anything though.

This last month I have done a lot of thinking and have started to branch out more into the book illustration world. Specifically, children's book illustrations. Earlier in the month I finished illustrating a children's book for a fellow entrepreneur which you can find on Amazon using the link Hailey the Ballerina. Since then I have been itching to illustrate more books. So, I've been busy researching publishers and etc to try and learn more. I'm also trying to expand on my portfolio. If you or anyone you know needs any illustration work done I am open for business and I charge lower than most illustrators as I'm still working to just get myself out there.

I did create a few more Wisconsin themed greeting cards. I am absolutely in love with flowers right now. My plan is to have a small set of Wisconsin themed cards that just contain different flowers.

I even managed to finish my 10 piece illustration series and I came up with a title for it. Smart A%$ Animals. This series contains animals in funny, sarcastic and sometimes wise situations. These illustrations will be available as art prints and later this month as a postcard set. Be sure you're following me on Facebook or Instagram so you know when the postcard set comes out.

Look at this cutie! I received a commission to create this little cutie to be put on travel bags. Dogs may not have been easy and fun for me to draw before but I am enjoying them more and more.

I've started a new project too. I'm not entirely sure where this project will take me but I am super excited about it. I'm thinking it might be a story you follow through pictures and every 2 weeks a new illustration is released. So, let me introduce you to Reggie. She is a young-ish raccoon who loves to explore, get creative and eat junk food. Through pen and watercolor pencil illustrations you can follow Reggie as she goes through life trying to get her shit together and make it through the endless struggles of life. Her story will have you laughing, crying and has the potential to get you right in the feels.

I hope you all have a wonderful 4th of July and a good month. Remember to stay safe and wash your hands as coronavirus is still an issue. Hopefully the next time we talk I will be feeling better and will have been able to create oodles of more art.
