Wait, it's August?

Aug 2nd 2020

Holy crap time has been flying by. Being cooped up in the house I have easily lost track of the hours, days and months. If I didn't have a calendar I looked at every day I would be absolutely lost.

I hope everyone is doing well. After things started opening up I had some hope Wisconsin could keep coronavirus at a manageable level but now the numbers just keep rising and rising. :( I have unfortunately had to accept that for the safety of everyone this year I will not be taking part in any events unless they are virtual. Hopefully next year will be better.

In addition to that sad news, despite my many doctors visits and taking care of myself I have been having quite a few health problems these last two months that just seem to be getting worse. I'm surviving so far and just taking things one day at a time but things have been pretty difficult. It has made everything, including drawing and even typing difficult and painful so I apologize in advance if some projects I talk about and show pictures of take a bit longer to finish. :(

Despite these issues this last month I have been working on quite a bit. I have had several different projects in the works. I finished my Wisconsin floral card set. The set includes: lilacs, hydrangeas, lilies, lily of the valley, sunflowers, morning glories, peonies, violets, roses (dog rose) and cone flowers. There are ten cards in total and I am absolutely in love with them. Eventually I would like to have the designs turned into stickers. Currently though I have so many projects going I need to catch up a bit before I can do a Kickstarter or GoFundMe to help cover sticker production. Hopefully later this year I will be able to start focusing on making them into stickers. For now, we'll all just have to enjoy them as greeting cards. :)

I also made two random new cards. One was because of missing my family and friends. I got to have a socially distanced visit with my parents and it just reminded me how much I miss them and miss giving and receiving hugs from them. The other card was designed because August 1st is my brothers birthday. Despite being twenty three I still picture him as the small freckle faced kid that followed me everywhere wanting to play with toy cars and toy dinosaurs. Now he's taller than me and loves video games. This card design just kept coming to me when trying to think of a birthday card design for my brother. I don't know if it was due to thinking of video games or just the pandemic affecting me but either way I love how it turned out.

In addition to designing greeting cards I have also started a new coloring book project. This one will probably take me a while as it will be a larger coloring book than the last one I made. Anyone who knows me knows that I love cats. I have my two little sweethearts Xena and Maggie. This entire coloring book will contain coloring pages featuring, you guessed it, cats. Each page will contain one cat in a new, interesting setting. So far I only have one page done but I have to start somewhere. This one is modeled after my Maggie. She loves to go all meerkat-like and it is the cutest thing in the world.

The adventures of Reggie have continued! :D This last month I have come out with a new illustration to add to Reggie's story every week. So far she has only managed to get out of bed and do her chores but it's a work in progress. This illustration style is a bit time consuming but it is so worth it and so me. I think eventually I will turn Reggie's adventures into a book but I've got a lot of work ahead of me before that can happen. I can't wait to see how Reggie's story continues to unfold and I can't wait to share it with you all. Down below you can see what I have for Reggie's story so far.

In addition to all of these projects I have also had a few commissions I've been working on and they're pretty big projects. Thankfully the deadline is out there a ways so I don't get stressed over all of it quite as bad and hopefully won't overwork myself too much.

Other than that I'm just taking it all one day at a time. I'm watching lots of movies and shows during downtime, baking a lot and going for lots of walks with my husband. I hope everyone is doing well and staying safe. Talk to you next time.
