Slow progress is better than no progress

Oct 4th 2020

Hello, hello and happy October to all of you lovely, awesome people and your furry, feathery or even scaley friends too. I hope you all had a wonderful September. This last month has been a roller coaster of surprises, some good and some not so good.

I started the month off by having a fainting spell and giving myself two nice bruises on my forehead with a concussion as my prize. I've had these fainting spells before but I haven't had one in years so it was an unfortunate surprise. But fear not, after about a week of taking it easy; and by taking it easy I mean watching movies and taking lots of naps I have recovered. Now if only doctors could figure out why these fainting spells are happening and how to stop them.

I unfortunately haven't been able to do much for new art projects which really stinks. I've been hard at work illustrating a children's book for a client and it's taken up the bulk of my time. I'd rather be busy than bored though so I'll take it. Plus the book is coming along nicely and is absolutely adorable.

Despite heath issues and being busy illustrating a book I did manage to continue Reggie's story a little bit. We get to relive one of her earliest memories of her learning how to draw. Her mom was a huge help. She introduced Reggie to the magical powers of the eraser.

I also created a new coloring page for my patrons on Patreon who are a part of the Opossum tier. Every month I create a new fantasy themed coloring page that patrons can print off at home and color. I asked my patrons what kind of animal they'd love to see me put a magical twist on and was given the coyote. I absolutely love how it turned out and may have to color it myself. I wonder what animal my patrons will choose for October?

With the holidays coming up Justin and I decided it was finally the year to send out a holiday card. So this year we will be sending out our first holiday card featuring the two of us and our two cats. Being the artist I am I couldn't just settle for a picture of us all pasted onto some generic card template. So I designed our own holiday card to send out later this year. I love Tim Burton movies and his art style so of course I had to go for a Tim Burton vibe. I absolutely love how it turned out.️

Other than these few pieces of artwork I also finally got to do something I've been itching to do for quite some time. I finally got my WisCOWsin design printed onto some tote bags. I am currently still waiting on them to come in but they'll be here any day now and I am super excited. I've wanted to put my designs onto tote bags and other items for quite some time and just never had the funding, but I was finally able to save up enough to get one design printed. Of course I knew it had to be my WisCOWsin design. It was the one design I was 100% sure I wanted on bags. I have plans for brand new designs featuring cats, raccoons and more.

Other than that there hasn't been much new. I'm taking things one day at a time. I'm still having all of the usual health issues with aches, pains and etc but some days are better than others. I do what I can and just keep moving forward. I hope you all had a wonderful September and I hope you have an even better October. Stay safe and stay sane!
