Snow Sucks

Feb 1st 2021

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow....something I've never said. Anyone else getting tired of snow? I spent a good hour and a half the other day shoveling my sidewalk. Take it from me, NEVER EVER buy a house on a corner lot. It seemed like a good idea at the time right up until we had to start shoveling it all. Ugh...I am so tired. Of course being tired is kind of my normal, but you know, that's just a part of life. I'm getting old. :(

This last month has flown by in a sea of craziness. I've been drowning myself (in a good way) in art projects. I have barely been able to keep track of all that's been going on, but that is A okay with me. :)

The beginning of the month I finally finished my amazing winter holiday trilogy featuring a lonely fox and a sweet family of mice. I absolutely love how this turned out. The trilogy tells a little story of a lonely fox who comes across a small house where a family of mice are celebrating the holidays. The mice, noticing their visitor go out and offer up a present to the fox giving him a warm welcome. The story is meant to remind people that no matter how different we may look from one another we should try to be accepting and welcoming of others.

The start of the year I also began illustrating a new children's book for a client. The deadline is far enough in the future that I do not have to feel rushed to complete it which has helped a lot with stress and just catching up on work and creating more.

With a bit more time on my hands I also created a ton of new greeting cards over the month. Especially cards featuring little monsters. The monsters are absolutely adorable. :)

I was also able to continue Reggie's story a little. Reggie decided after her snack time she would go for a walk to get some fresh air. She grabbed her favorite purple scarf to keep her warm since she knew it'd be cooler out now.

Let's not forget about coloring pages either. I designed two new coloring pages, one is for my patrons on Patreon and the other is for a coloring book I'm working on. Hint: it's going to be all cats. :D

The page I made for Patreon turned out super awesome containing a magical beast that is half lynx and half peacock. She turned out gorgeous and I wish these creatures were real because I'd have one as a pet. Sorry I don't have a picture of the finished product yet. I'm still trying to get pictures on my computer.

The page I did for the coloring book I'm working on contains a fluffy space cat of awesomeness. This kitty sees and knows all.

Due to my health issues being so out of control it has been hard to work my part time job as well as work on my business. I am not able to do as much as I once could and I get exhausted much faster than before. It sucks, but that's life right now. That's why starting this month I decided to take some time off from my part time job to just focus on my business. Plus, it wasn't fair to them that my health issues were making me unreliable. What this means though is that I can now dedicate all of my time towards my business, which I am super excited about.

For the month of February I have a lot of project plans. I plan to continue more of Reggie's story with 1-2 new illustrations. A new coloring page for Patreon and a new coloring page for the book I'm working on. Let's not forget more greeting cards too. I'm trying to create 1 new card a week.

Outside of art projects I also plan to do a lot of work on my website. I'm going to be creating new banners for on my home page and I'm slowly updating my product descriptions. There are a lot of products though. I also have some card designs from the last month that will be getting added to the site. To narrow down the amount of products I sell I also have a large selection of greeting cards and even art prints that will be disappearing forever once the remaining ones sell out. I'm super excited to create new work to add to my website to replace the old pieces. I have a lot of work ahead of me but I am confident I can get a good chunk of it done.

Until next time, talk to you later! :)
