Spring Fever

Mar 1st 2020

I know last time I posted 2020 had been kicking my butt. Well, not this time. This last month has been full of excitement! It's been so busy and so much fun and I fully intend to keep these good vibes going. I had my first two events of the year right away at the start of February. The (Mini) Crafty Market was my first event. It went great, there were a ton of awesome vendors and I made some friends. My second event was the Banbury Art Crawl. I was super nervous about it. I had to travel a long way for it and it was my first two day event. It was so worth it! With over 100 artists there was plenty to see and enjoy. It was so cool to see all the different art and meet other artists. I absolutely loved every second of it. Afterwards, Justin and I went and celebrated with ice cream before headed home. I get all excited just thinking about these past two events.

In addition to the two events my Kickstarter for my coloring book got funded! I was really worried that it wouldn't be for a while but my husband was the voice of reason. Turns out he was right (just don't tell him I said that). I've gotten the bookmarks cut, trimmed and packaged and now I'm just working to get the touch ups done on the coloring book. The cover is made and looks fantastic, there are just a couple illustrations that didn't scan well and Auto Trace in Inkscape didn't work too well. Ugh....this has been my biggest trouble this last month. Trying to get the illustrations printer ready. Doesn't help matters when my computer breaks either. But I will be ready for printing in the next few days thankfully.

With how troublesome the coloring book has been I've been having to take some much needed breaks from it. During those little breaks is when I've created all of this new work. One or two new cards, several new mini paintings and of course some larger Illustrations.

During those breaks I've also been busy, busy, busy applying for events. Now I just have to wait and see who accepts me. I'm hoping most, if not all. I had to actually sit down and mark all the events on my calendar just to make sure I didn't apply for any that were on the same day. This event season is going to be crazy fun and crazy busy.

For the month of March I've got lots of plans. I've cut my hours a bit more at my part time job so I have more time for what I really love. I'm hoping to get my website updated with all of my new work before event season goes into full swing. Thankfully my next events are not until April. I also plan to get two or three of my illustrations made into tote bags and t-shirts. I've got some designs picked out I just have to narrow it down more and touch them up for printing. Of course I have to pick out a printer too. I've narrowed it down to two different businesses. My last goal is to just be able to create more art. I'd like to be able to offer some new illustrations, paintings and greeting card designs. Fingers crossed I can do it all. I'm feeling pretty confident that I can. My art and this business are something I am passionate about and confident in.

Hope you all have a wonderful month and that things are well. Till next time!
